Queen of Tears: Episode 4 Recap
Why Does Eun-sung Want Queens to Fail?
Hyun-woo is desperate to get hold of Hae-in's phone to prevent her from seeing the text message Mi-seon sent. In his haste to keep the phone away from her, he accidentally grabs her hand, causing the phone to fall. This sudden move makes Hae-in's heart flutter, and she kisses him. While kissing between a married couple is natural, it leaves them both feeling incredibly awkward.
Despite the kiss, Hyun-woo still hasn't deleted the text on Hae-in's phone. When she goes to shower, he quickly turns on the phone, only to be thwarted by the password lock again. He finally unlocks it by entering the date 1031, a number only the two of them knew. After much struggle, he deletes Mi-seon's message, leaving Hae-in suspicious of him.
Hyun-woo's actions, which he thinks show how much he likes Hae-in, only create misunderstandings. There's a reason Hae-in set her phone password to 1031. They had a child whose due date was October 31st. They had decorated a nursery together and dreamed of their baby, but now, with the nursery gone, it seems they lost the child. It looks like they turned the nursery into Hyun-woo’s room. Another sad backstory unfolds!
The news that Hae-in might recover is joyous only for her. If his wife’s illness is cured, Hyun-woo fears divorce will be out of the question, and he briefly imagines the worst-case scenario.
Why does Eun-sung want Queens to fail? This mystery grows deeper. It appears that Eun-sung came back to Korea specifically to bring down Queens. He has been deliberately getting close to the Queens family, and Grace Ko, the private secretary of the family, who knows the Queens family's affairs better than anyone, is assisting him.
Hyun-woo's sister Mi-seon sends a message to her sister-in-law Hae-in, just in case. She hopes that Hae-in, as the daughter of Queens, can help solve a tricky situation regarding Hyun-woo's father's campaign to become the village head of Yongdu-ri. Mi-seon plans that if Hae-in shows up, it will change the situation. Contrary to her expectations, Hae-in arrives with financial incentives, winning over the villagers.
The drama "Queen of Tears" features a sponsorship from Mercedes-Benz! Hyun-woo's nephew, seeing Hae-in’s Maybach, asks if he can try it out. Hae-in, finding him cute, asks the chauffeur to give him a ride. Left alone, Hae-in suddenly experiences a mental breakdown and loses her memory.
Hyun-woo searches for Hae-in, drenched in sweat from riding his bike around the neighborhood. When he finally finds her, she’s barefoot and dirty. He hugs her tightly, feeling sorry for her.
Hae-in feels ashamed and embarrassed about her disoriented state. However, in the rural area where no one knows her situation, she realizes her husband is the only person she can trust.
