King Injo (Kim Jae Won) insists on not going to meet envoys from the Qing Dynasty despite the subjects' entreaties. Crown Prince Sohyeon (Baek Sung Hyun) decides to work out the diplomatic issue not to bring trouble to the people.
Injo is well known for the worst king in the Joseon Dynasty which is lasted for about 500 years, except King Seonjo whose grandson is King Injo.
He has a serious inferiority complex as a bastard son as well as political incompetence as a leader of the country, as shown in the history-based TV series. He is too weak and childish. :(
Sohyeon has a talk with the representative by command of the King. He reminds him of an old Chinese line "The beauty of a flower will not last ten days." to the very conceited person. The envoy advises the young man to face up to the reality and his sharp remark brings a stabbing pain to his heart.

Now the little boy has become a dramatic actor as well as a handsome guy. :)
Crown Princess secretly asks Princess Jeongmyeong (Lee Yeon Hee) to persuade her husband to be against his father. Sohyeon sticks to his decision to the last and tries to persuade the weak and indecisive man to engage in realistic diplomacy for the people. Meanwhile, Injo misjudges the daughter-in-law's real intentions due to Yeo Jung's plotting against her.
