Kim Gae Shi (Kim Yeo Jin) let a lady attendant to put goods of malediction in the tomb of Queen Uiin, first wife of the late king. She offers a warm glass of rice wine when she comes back, "It will warm yourself." But it is poisoned liquor to kill the girl who have got it made.
Gae Shi tells the lady dying how she had a special bond with Gwanghae (Cha Seung Won). She was sent to the palace as a court maid when she was young due to her father's gambling debt. Nobody was interested in her but prince Gwanghae (Lee Tae hwan) only looked into her ability and called her name.

Prime minister Yi Deok Hyung (Lee Sung Min) gets to know the king tries to invent gunpowde in secret.

Queen Inmok (Shin Eun Jung)'s father and prince Yeongchang are branded as a rebel before selection of king's son-in-law for princess Jeongmyeong. The princess felt dizzy again because of the scorching sun rushes to her little brother but he is already caught by Yi ICheom (Jung Woong In) and palace guards.

Yi ICheom leads the rebellion conspiracy. He fabricates a document which the seven concubines sons attacked people moving sliver on a carrier to scrape up the money for helping the young prince to the throne.
In a council in the Royal presence, the prime minister urges, "Your Highness, You are wrong. The choice will lead you to tyrannize over the country. Please don't listen to the villainous retainer." recalling the king's words the night before.
Gwanghae approaches to him, "I really wanted to go with you but you don't believe me. I will examine prisoner myself to show that the evidence is right." Disappointment is writ large on his face.

Princess Jeongmyeong implores for the child's life. But king calmly says, "There is no child in the palace. There is no innocent person here. Yeongchang will pay for his sin."

Hong Joo Won (Yoon Chan Young) and Kang In Woo (Ahn Do Gyu) came to the palace for the selection of the king's son-in-law finds the princess who is in deep sorrow. She implores Joo Won with tears in her eyes, "Please marry to me. I heard that I can save my brother's life if I get married to you. Please... Please..."
The two boys feel sorry for her to see her in such a situation.

King finally sends Yeongchang into exile.
"I heard that I will be killed when I go outside the palace. I'm scared. I don't wanna go alone. I'd like to go with my sister." the little prince shouts.
The siblings who believed to be granted permission to leave together are separated by the lady attendants as they are outside the palace and the two wails loudly.
