Queen Inmok's father advises her of the fact that someone tried to kill Yeongchang the night before and both of them think that Gwanghae did. But Prince Imhae (Choi Jong Hwan) made the reckless move to assassinate the direct heir. 
Gwanghae lost ground due to his older brother begs Yi Deok Hyung (Lee Sung Min) for help but he turns down his earnest request because of an arrogation. 
The prince promises that he will not hurt royal as long as they are not greedy for the throne.

Gwanghae finds Jungmyung (Heo Jung Eun) who is in tears alone beside a pond at midnight. The little princess states that she saw her younger brother being killed in the dream and she is scared of everything around her. He makes a promise that Jungmyung and Yeongchang will be safe.
The prince prays the queen to forgive his brother's mistake and promises the children's safety showing her Seonjo's last will from Deok Hyung. 
Queen Inmok realizes that Jungmyung really adores Gwanghae as her own brother. 
She hands over the royal seal to him and Gwanghae is proclaimed the new king.

Deok Hyung runs into Hong Joo Won (Choi Kwon Soo) and Kang In Woo (Lee Tae Woo) on the street. Joo Won makes a request to become his student.
Jeongmyeong having ominous dreams continually falls in a faint on the ground because of the scorching sun.
On the other hand, the king asks Deok Hyung to be a prime minister for him.

Court Lady Kim Gae Shi (Kim Yeo Jin), an old friend of the new king, is summoned to the palace by Gwanghae. The king is worried about Ming's refusal to give him approval as the king of Joseon because the firstborn son Imhae is still alive.   
The old friend suggests that it would be best for him to show I have to the envoys instead of killing him. Image pretends to be mad in front of the envoys to his brother has trusted in him.

Queen Inmok and princess Jeongmyeong go to a Buddhist temple for a change of air. The little girl shows her mother a bracelet which she found in the temple and the queen is shocked.

Gwanghae very appreciates of Imhae's efforts and apologizes for suspecting him. But the older brother begs for forgiveness breaking down tears and admits that he plotted conspiracy. The king recalls the words of Kim Gae Shi "Desire is the essence of a man. No limit to man's desire even when he sits on the powerful throne."
