The film Twenty is like a fresh soda.
It contains the same message as Joker of the Dark Knight.
"Why So Serious?"
Twenty tells the story about the growth of the 20s. But it's not serious or solemn like most similar films which show ego-identity crisis, sex, bullying, and youth dating, etc. In the films, the youth distress themselves about the matters which older people regard as childish practices. Those insist that everyone suffers an ordeal and lives through the rough times before they overcome trials. They also criticize the older generation who are not innocent saying "You`re young because it's painful."
Twenty discards those old ideas. It asks back.
"Should be painful, because we are young?"
Hyun Joog, Jun Ho, and Ha Neul, high school schoolmates, also are worried about their life but they are not serious. They feel uneasy because of the family going down, unanswered love, and a life without a dream. But they laugh cheerfully. Even the older generation is not serious in the movie.
The film never tries to impress audiences. It's delightful and pleasant from being to end. People drown their agonies with a drink. The movie says that young people in their twenties can restart their life again when they make mistakes.
I'm really glad to see the film as a vitamin in our busy, stressful lives.
Hyun Joog, who doesn't have a job after graduating from secondary school, leads his life with rich parents' help. He has no lofty ambitions.
