Kang Joo Sun (Jo Sung Ha) pledges to stand with the King for the credentials to be sent under the promise of the marriage and return of the evidence of the conspiracy against Gwanghae.
Hong Joo Won (Seo Kang Joon) is on the point of being executed when an envoy who was sent to Joseon comes back and prevents him from being killed. He knows all the details and is apprehensive about the King's safety. Before he is thrown in jail again, Yi Ja Kyung (Gong Myeong) rescues him from the enemy land killing all the guards.
Watching the bright full moon in the garden, Jeongmyeong is lost in thought aching for her loved one. A big tear is rolling down her cheek when Kang In Woo (Han Joo Wan) comes up to her and asks the woman to forget his friend from now on.
Gwanghae looks back upon his life as the leader of the country and pours out his heart to Kim Gae Shi (Kim Yeo Jin) who is called in by him. The exhausted person expresses his thanks to the royalist who will never stay away from him until the end of his life and he sobbingly says to the former court lady that he will live like a human being. Gae Shi holds back her sobs detaining him by the sleeve anticipating that he will force himself to the wall against the wishes of her.
Kim Ja Jeom (Jo Min Ki) and Jo Yeo Jung (Kim Min Seo) begin the race for the royal seat in earnest. Prince Neungyang (Kim Jae Won) smiles looking at the Gwanghae's letter which will have set the cause for deposing the King.
On the day of an official announcement about the royal marriage, Yeo Jung lures Jeongmyeong into a trap saying that Gwanghae is waiting for her in a secret place. She realizes that she is caught in the trap on her way to the house but she passes out due to a deadly poison.
As soon as a dispatch rider with the diplomatic paper leaves for Qing, Gwanghae orders the arrest of Kang Joo Sun letting key retainers see the critical evidence that he conspired to rebel against the King and Kim Ja Jeom and Neungyang are thrilled to hear the news.
Gwanghae sees Joo Won who is back safe, with gloomy eyes, because he cannot find out the Princess' whereabouts and the young man doesn't know what is happening.
Jeongmyeong is falling to the floor in a barn, nearly unconscious. Kim Ja Jeom calls her name in a quiet voice to wake her up.
