Jae-kyung is arrested on charges of drug addiction. The team leader of the Narcotics Team at Anhyeon Police Station privately questions him about everything that happened during his addiction. She then suggests that Jae-kyung falsely reports that he got addicted while on duty as a way to escape the charges.

Fortunately, Kim Chang-soo, who has always respected Jae-kyung, falsely confesses that he was the one who got Jae-kyung addicted, thus saving him. As a result, Jae-kyung’s addiction is officially recorded as an on-duty accident.

Tae-jin visits Jong-soo in prison, whom he had arrested, and tries to sow discord between Jong-soo and his father, Chairman Won of Geumhyeong Group. Jae-kyung arrests Chi-hyun on charges of murdering Jeong Yun-ho.

Gong Jin-wook, a drug distributor, comes to his senses in a hospital bed and testifies to the police that the "Doctor" is Park Tae-jin, based on information he received from Sang-ui over the phone.

Sang-ui, a researcher at Geumhyeong Pharmaceutical, begins to confront Tae-jin, a prosecutor at Anhyeon District Office, who tries to pin all the blame on Sang-ui. Sang-ui meets Tae-jin at a hideout for Inner Circle, where Tae-jin assaults him. At the same time, Jae-kyung, having been contacted by Sang-ui beforehand, arrives at the hideout.

Jae-kyung questions Jun-seo about what happened. Tae-jin had manipulated the relationship between Jong-soo and Jun-seo and tried to persuade Jun-seo to sell drugs with him. Desperate to pay for his daughter's medical bills, Jun-seo agreed to work with Tae-jin.

Jae-kyung accuses Tae-jin of being Jun-seo’s murderer. Drunk with triumph, Tae-jin arrogantly admits everything in front of Jae-kyung and Sang-ui. Enraged by the truth about Jun-seo’s death, Sang-ui pulls out a gun and shoots Tae-jin in the head, killing him.

Jae-kyung confronts Chairman Won about Jun-seo. It turns out that Jun-seo had approached Chairman Won before his death, asking him to make his friends pay for their crimes. Chairman Won then called Tae-jin and conveyed Jun-seo’s words, manipulating events to have Jun-seo killed.

Jae-kyung pressures Chairman Won and eventually gets him to confess that he was the mastermind behind Jun-seo’s murder, orchestrating it through his assistant at a construction site. Chairman Won is finally arrested.

Jae-kyung successfully proves that Jun-seo was murdered, and a large insurance payout is deposited to Jae-kyung and Yun-jin. They share part of this money with the wives of their two deceased friends. In the end, they manage to access the account where Tae-jin had stashed his drug money, bringing the series to a close.

Tae-jin goes to meet Jong-soo but is attacked by Chi-hyun and collapses. Jong-soo, Geumhyeong Group's successor, is furious upon learning that Tae-jin has been skimming money from drug sales and demands to know where the money is. Tae-jin explains that only Jun-seo knew the password to the account where the money is stored, but he is dead.

Jong-soo orders Chi-hyun to bring drugs so they can blackmail Tae-jin and Sang-ui by poisoning them. While Chi-hyun is away, Sang-ui regains consciousness and knocks out Jong-soo. Sang-ui and Tae-jin manage to escape unharmed. Determined to take everyone down, Tae-jin gives Sang-ui one last chance, offering him 12 hours to flee the country.

Tae-jin then launches an all-out attack on Geumhyeong Pharmaceuticals and Jong-soo, initiating a raid as a prosecutor at the Anhyeon District Office. Ultimately, Chairman Won decides to abandon his son, and Jong-soo is arrested in front of his father.

Jae-kyung and Yun-jin follow Jun-seo’s trail and obtain a USB containing crucial evidence. Jae-kyung’s past is also revealed: during their school days, he reported Jong-soo and his Inner Circle friends to the police after learning they killed Kyung-tae, while Jun-seo was unable to make a decision. However, this backfired and led to Jae-kyung’s forced transfer.

Jae-kyung’s subordinate, Chang-soo, is arrested on charges of a drug middleman's murder. The restored black box footage reveals that his testimony was false, leading to his arrest.

The team leader and Jae-kyung of the Narcotics Team at Anhyeon Police Station plan to capture Gong Jin-wook, who is attempting to flee to China by boat. To avoid civilian casualties, the team leader disguises herself as a stowaway to board the boat. However, their plan is leaked, resulting in the disguised officer being stabbed. Jae-kyung chases Gong Jin-wook with a gun, but he manages to escape and board the boat alone.

Jae-kyung narrowly succeeds in shooting Gong Jin-wook, stopping the boat. However, his colleagues, having discovered his drug addiction, arrest Jae-kyung, bringing Episode 13 of "Connection" to a dramatic end.

Connection: Episode 12 Recap

Yun-ho's attempt to kill Ji-yeon fails, prompting Tae-jin to insist that Yun-ho must be eliminated quickly, as he has become uncontrollable. Jong-soo, Tae-jin, and Chi-hyun start exposing each other's dark secrets and crimes, leading to a fierce argument. During this chaos, Yun-ho calls Jong-soo.

On the call, Yun-ho tells Jong-soo that Tae-jin is the mastermind behind all their troubles and begs for his life. He also tries to create distrust by claiming that Chi-hyun is on Tae-jin's side. Jong-soo puts the call on speakerphone so everyone can hear. Eventually, Jong-soo calms Yun-ho down, agreeing to meet, but instructs Chi-hyun to kill Yun-ho.

Despite Jong-soo's order, Chi-hyun secretly plans to spare Yun-ho, warning him to disappear forever. However, Yun-ho refuses to comply, and Chi-hyun ends up killing him. A hiker witnesses Chi-hyun burying Yun-ho’s body in the mountains.

Meanwhile, Jae-kyung, who is addicted to drugs, struggles to get by with the medication that Yun-jin has obtained for her. He reaches his limit and collapses at home. Worried, Yun-jin enters Jae-kyung’s house using the security code, finds him collapsed, and helps him take a small dose of drugs.

Dr. Sang-ui, a researcher at Geumhyeong Pharmaceutical, under the guise of Prosecutor Tae-jin, reaches out to drug dealer Gong Jin-wook and sets up a meeting with the real Tae-jin. Anticipating a confession, Sang-ui attempts to record Tae-jin admitting to Jun-seo's murder. However, Tae-jin, sensing the trap, cleverly evades it. Instead, he hands Tae-jin a USB drive, telling him to check it out.

Jae-kyung and Yun-jin confront Sang-ui, who takes them to the underground drug manufacturing site at Yeongryun Cold Storage. Sang-ui reveals that he is the Doctor who made the drugs and that he deliberately got Jae-kyung addicted out of personal spite.

Sang-ui explains that he sought revenge for Jun-seo, who had looked after him during their school days. He admits he wanted to avenge Jun-seo’s death by making Jae-kyung suffer, believing that Jae-kyung had taken his only friend and that Jun-seo trusted Jae-kyung more.

Sang-ui confesses everything and states he is willing to face the consequences of his actions, pleading for help in capturing Tae-jin. He mocks Jae-kyung for failing to resolve the situation as he had hoped.

After successfully developing the Pil-o-dong area, Geumhyeong Group Chairman Won Chang-ho plans to oust Tae-jin by promoting him within the prosecutor's office. When Tae-jin asks Chang-ho to reconsider, hoping to work for Geumhyeong Group, Chang-ho reveals he knows about Tae-jin’s involvement in drug dealing with Jun-seo. He declares Tae-jin the greatest threat to the company and refuses to let him join.

In the end, Yun-ho’s body is discovered, and Chi-hyun receives an anonymous tip about Sang-ui meeting Jae-kyung and Yun-jin. Episode 12 concludes with this revelation.

Jeong Soon-won as Heo Joo-song, CEO of Two Star Holdings, an insurance company

Park Geun-rok as Jung Sang-ui, a researcher at Geumhyeong Pharmaceutical

Connection: Episode 11 Recap

Jae-kyung considers the possibility that his teammate Kim Chang-soo deliberately killed a suspect being transported to destroy evidence. Given the weather that day, Jong-soo had his window open while driving, possibly to quickly escape the car after crashing it into the reservoir.

Gong Jin-wook, a drug dealer, calls the Doctor and admits to killing Ms. Yoon, demanding to continue supplying drugs through him. The Doctor's identity is revealed, and the man using voice modulation in the call with Gong Jin-wook turns out to be Sang-ui, a researcher at Geumhyeong Pharmaceutical and a member of the Inner Circle.

Sang-ui receives a scolding from his friend Tae-jin, a prosecutor at Ahn Hyun District Office, over the phone for discussing Ms. Yoon's death, warning not to mention such matters on calls. It seemingly appears the Doctor might not be Sang-ui, but someone higher-up like Tae-jin or Jong-soo, Geumhyeong Group's successor.

Jae-kyung suspects that Tae-jin, Jun-seo, Sang-ui, and others in Inner Circle are collectively known as "Doctor," selling drugs for illicit gains, possibly involving a large sum accessible with the password only known to Ji-yeon, Jun-seo's wife.

Yun-jin discovers that Jun-seo was having an affair with Tae-jin before his death. Meanwhile, Yun-ho, who is accused of murdering the mill owner, is still on the run, and his wife, desperate to have her husband brought in safely, reveals his hiding place to Jae-kyung. Despite Jae-kyung's prompt response, Yun-ho manages to escape capture by the police narrowly.

The Inner Circle's core members Jong-soo, Tae-jin, Chi-hyun, and Sang-ui convene. Tae-jin, unaware of Sang-ui's secret recording, proposes eliminating Yun-ho. Meanwhile, Sang-ui, discreetly recording the entire conversation, sends the audio file to Yun-ho, still on the run, exposing the plot to assassinate him. He also informs him that evidence linking Tae-jin to Jun-seo's murder can be found with Ji-yeon, Jun-seo's widow.

Yun-ho heads to Ji-yeon's home to secure this evidence, willing to confront Tae-jin even if it means harming her. Simultaneously, Jae-kyung tracks Yun-ho's phone to Ji-yeon's house, but Yun-ho has disappeared, leaving her wounded but alive. Jae-kyung and Tae-jin clash fiercely outside Ji-yeon's operating room in the hospital.

A series of flashbacks reveals past events that shaped the present narrative. In high school, Jun-seo's betrayal of Jae-kyung led to Jae-kyung's forced transfer due to the actions of Inner Circle members. Sang-ui, seeking to regain Jun-seo's membership in Inner Circle, proposes that Jun-seo must break up with Yun-jin as a condition for his reinstatement.

The scene shifts to the Audiophile club room, where Jun-seo, fueled by frustration, violently destroys equipment. Yun-jin witnesses Jun-seo's outburst and is confronted by his aggressive behavior. Meanwhile, Sang-ui observes the scene from a distance, a mysterious smile playing on his lips. As Episode 11 draws close, the tension and intrigue remain unresolved, leaving viewers eager for the next installment.

Connection: Episode 10 Recap

Jun-seo is leaving a movie with friends when he receives a call from Sang-ui. It appears that Jong-soo assaulted Kyung-tae and set his house on fire, resulting in Kyung-tae’s death. The opening of episode 10 flashes back to their high school days.

Back in the present, Jae-kyung is searching for Yun-ho on the run for being accused of murdering the mill owner but fails to catch him. Along with Yun-jin and Joo-song, he follows Ji-yeon, who is being pursued by Yun-ho.

Jae-kyung obtains and listens to a wiretap recording of a conversation between Ji-yeon and Tae-jin. Ji-yeon questions Tae-jin about the relationship between Yun-jin and her deceased husband Jun-seo. Tae-jin initially denies any connection but eventually admits they briefly dated in high school.

Jae-kyung confronts Jong-soo, asking if he killed Lee Myung-guk, a researcher at Geumhyeong KHPHARMACEUTICAL. He also pressures Jong-soo with the fact that he’s using drugs.

A drug dealer Gong Jin-wook's subordinate, Geun-ho, disobeys orders and approaches Ms. Yoon for debt collection. Ms. Yoon captures Geun-ho as a hostage to lure out Jin-wook, planning to exchange him for the direct line to the Doctor. She calls Chang-soo, Jae-kyung's subordinate of the Narcotics Team at Anhyeon Police Station, offering to hand over Jin-wook and Geun-ho for arrest.

Ms. Yoon plans to turn Jin-wook over to the police, but Jin-wook shoots her and escapes with Geun-ho. The gun used was one he had taken from Jae-kyung, putting Jae-kyung in a more difficult position.

Jae-kyung realizes that Ms. Yoon’s torture room matches a place from his memories, leading him to discover that Ms. Yoon had drugged him. He questions the fallen Ms. Yoon for the truth, but she dies without answering. Jae-kyung notices something suspicious about his subordinate Chang-soo but does not reveal his suspicions.

Ms. Yoon’s henchman, Go Ki-seong, is arrested at the scene. Being transported to the police station, he tries to blackmail Chang-soo, revealing the truth about Ms. Yoon’s relationship and Jae-kyung's addiction to secure his release. Chang-soo, refusing to deal with the criminal, decides to silence Ki-seong by driving the car into the river. Arriving at the scene of the incident, Jae-kyung finds it odd that the driver’s window of Chang-soo’s car was open, making the accident seem suspicious.

Yun-jin, claiming to know the password, lures Tae-jin to an internet café. She is confident the password is her six-digit birthdate and proposes splitting the money. To protect herself, she has set up a safeguard to expose Tae-jin and Ji-yeon's relationship to the media if she’s threatened. However, the password turns out not to be her birthday, much to her amusement.

As Tae-jin, frustrated by multiple failed attempts, is on the verge of losing all the money, he starts strangling Yun-jin. Out of nowhere, Joo-song appears, demonstrating incredible strength as he throws Tae-jin aside, rescuing Yun-jin. The episode concludes with this dramatic rescue.

Connection: Episode 9 Recap

Jae-kyung searches Jeong Yun-ho's house and discovers that Yun-ho, a taxi driver and a member of Inner Circle, is the one who burned the body of Lee Myung-guk, a deceased researcher from Geumhyeong Pharmaceutical. The police begin pursuing Yun-ho to arrest him.

Jong-soo and Tae-jin are shocked when they learn that Yun-ho is being chased by the police. Chi-hyun confesses to Jong-soo and Tae-jin that he and Yun-ho murdered Lee Myung-guk, stored the body in the Yeongryun Cold Storage warehouse, then moved it to Myung-guk's house and set it on fire while Jae-kyung and Yun-jin were examining his body at his house.

Realizing all this, Jae-kyung deduces that Yun-ho killed the mill owner to delete the CCTV footage from the route to Yeongryun Cold Storage.

The Inner Circle members had all gathered at the construction site because Jun-seo knew about Myung-guk's body and was blackmailing Chi-hyun. Jun-seo was already aware of Tae-jin's affair with his wife, and this was the reason why Tae-jin had meekly followed him to the construction site after just one phone call from Jun-seo.

Jae-kyung revisits the initial point and tries to understand the intention behind making him addicted to drugs. He suspects it was to use him to expose Jong-soo's corruption.

Yun-ho, now a fugitive accused of murdering the mill owner, secretly meets with Tae-jin, a prosecutor friend who can help him. Yun-ho threatens to expose Tae-jin's long affair with Jun-seo’s wife, Ji-yeon, unless he helps him.

Jong-soo's father, the chairman of Geumhyeong Group, summons Tae-jin and sternly advises him to stay as a prosecutor and not overreach in business matters. He warns Tae-jin not to act like part of the family, humiliating and angering Tae-jin.

Ji-yeon, Jun-seo's wife, visits Jae-kyung’s house where he works with Yun-jin and Joo-song to solve the case. Meanwhile, Yun-jin’s junior reporter, following Ji-yeon, sees Yun-ho suspiciously near Jae-kyung's house and starts to shadow him.

Ji-yeon tells Jae-kyung that while sorting through Jun-seo's documents, she discovered an old man in Boryeong, Chungnam might be connected to the case.

When Joo-song brings out a cake for Yun-jin, Ji-yeon is shocked to realize it’s Yun-jin’s birthday. She rushes to the bathroom to vomit, as Jun-seo had used Yun-jin’s birthday as his password eight years ago. Suspecting something, Yun-jin unlocks Ji-yeon’s phone using her birthday while Ji-yeon is in the bathroom.

Ji-yeon, feeling distressed, leaves hurriedly. Jae-kyung then learns from a photo sent by Yun-jin's junior reporter that Yun-ho is near his house, concluding Episode 9 of "Connection."

Connection: Episode 8 Recap

Episode 8 of "Connection" begins with a brief flashback to Jae-kyung's school days, then quickly transitions to the story of the Inner Circle friends who gathered on the day Jun-seo died.

Jae-kyung asks Sang-ui, a researcher at Geumhyeong Pharmaceutical and one of the Inner Circle members, what happened that day. Sang-ui explains that he, Jong-soo, Tae-jin, and Chi-hyun went to the construction site after being contacted by Jun-seo. They took a temporary elevator to the upper floors, and Jun-seo fell to his death from the 9th floor.

Sang-ui insists that neither he nor his friends killed Jun-seo, but Jae-kyung is convinced that one of them is the culprit based on Sang-ui’s testimony. Sang-ui mentions that Jun-seo was wearing shoes when he fell, but it seems the other friends didn’t notice this detail.

Jong-soo meets with the mayor of Anhyeon to propose a business proposal crucial for him to become the chairman of Geumhyeong Group. However, the mayor declines, expressing distrust in Jong-soo’s track record and behavior and the disappointing performance of Geumhyeong Pharmaceutical, and leaves abruptly.

After parting ways with Sang-ui, Jae-kyung pressures Chi-hyun during questioning. Chi-hyun inadvertently reveals that Jun-seo's shoes were not on the 9th floor. Satisfied with Chi-hyun's slip-up, Jae-kyung promises to return with evidence and leaves.

Tae-jin can't access his money because Choi Ji-yeon won’t reveal the password to the cryptocurrency wallet. Having already entered the wrong password eight times, he only has two attempts left.

Through a conversation with Hyun-woo, Jae-kyung learns how Hyun-woo met and befriended Jun-seo while he was still alive. Jae-kyung also discovers that Hyun-woo delivered drugs incorrectly due to a motorcycle accident on a rainy road.

The episode ends with Jae-kyung reviewing CCTV footage from the mill, closing to uncover that the person who killed the mill owner is none other than Yun-ho, a member of the Inner Circle.

In the past, Min Hyun-woo, while working as a delivery driver, accidentally mixed up medication meant for a patient with medication intended for Jong-soo due to a sudden car accident. This led to the patient consuming Jong-soo's medication and presumably dying as a result.

Oh Chi-hyun, a core member of the "Inner Circle," kidnaps Yun-jin, offering her blackmail material and bribe money to silence her about her corruption. Yun-ho boasts to Chi-hyun that he destroyed the CCTV footage. Still, Chi-hyun beats him up, questioning why he killed the mill owner when simply erasing the footage would have sufficed. Yun-ho, unaware that the mill owner handed a USB to Jae-kyung just before dying, assures Chi-hyun that Jae-kyung wouldn't have seen the CCTV footage. The CCTV had captured the "Inner Circle" friends passing by on the day Jun-seo died.

Jae-kyung and Yun-jin discover that Lee Myung-guk was a senior member of their high school club, Audiophile. However, their joy is short-lived as Jae-kyung struggles with drug withdrawal symptoms and eventually succumbs to the urge, to take drugs that had been confiscated by the police as evidence.

In an attempt to erase footage of himself stealing the drugs from the police station, Jae-kyung reviews the CCTV recordings, only to find that the video from that time frame has already been deleted by someone else. The duty officer informs him that Inspector Kim Chang-soo was the one who visited earlier.

When a team member reports the missing drugs, Jae-kyung hides the fact that he stole and used them. Instead, he harshly blames the team member and covers up the evidence.

Joo-song receives a call from Choi Ji-yeon and decides to visit her. He asks Yun-jin to accompany him, but she declines, saying she’s busy. Ji-yeon, Jun-seo’s wife, believes that her husband left the insurance money to his former friends, reporter Yun-jin and police officer Jae-kyung, who are not close right now, to uncover the truth behind his death. She asks Joo-song to keep her updated on any developments.

Gong Jin-wook is permitted by the Doctor to make contact only once after midnight if an urgent issue arises.

Then comes the shocking revelation: Ji-yeon is having an affair with Prosecutor Tae-jin, Jun-seo's close friend.

For his investigation into Jun-seo's death, Jae-kyung checks the CCTV at a mill near the construction site where Jun-seo died. While Jae-kyung steps away for a moment, Jeong Yun-ho, a taxi driver who is one of the "Inner Circle" friends, breaks in, kills the mill owner and destroys the evidence. Jae-kyung returns just in time to receive a CCTV backup from the dying owner, concluding episode 4 of "Connection."

Jeong Soon-won as Heo Joo-song, CEO of Two Star Holdings, an insurance company

Park Geun-rok as Jung Sang-ui, a researcher at Geumhyeong Pharmaceutical

Jun-seo's suicide occurred less than a month after taking out a life insurance policy, and since it had been less than two years since he enrolled, no payout would be made. Yun-jin suggests to Jun-seo’s wife, Choi Ji-yeon, that Jun-seo would never take his own life and that they should request an autopsy. If the autopsy concludes it was a homicide, Jae-kyung and Yun-jin could receive a significant insurance payout. This makes it seem like Jae-kyung’s insistence on an autopsy is driven by financial motives rather than pure intentions.

In reality, Jun-seo's will included not just Jae-kyung and Yun-jin but also a man named Lee Myung-guk. Jae-kyung receives Lee Myung-guk’s personal information from Joo-song. Tae-jin, who is both Jae-kyung's high school friend and a prosecutor at the Anhyeon District Office, tries to prevent the autopsy. However, Jun-seo's wife, Ji-yeon, decides to go ahead with it, as she cannot believe Jun-seo would commit suicide. Jong-soo, angered by Tae-jin's failure to stop the autopsy, reveals that the vice president of Geumhyeong Group holds more power than a prosecutor.

Jae-kyung begins investigating the drug that caused his addiction. His investigation reveals that the drug was recently popular but is no longer available. He also looks into Lee Myung-guk and discovers that he had terminal lung cancer and went missing before he could share something with Yun-jin. Could Jun-seo have wanted Jae-kyung to investigate Lee Myung-guk through his death?

Meanwhile, Yun-jin conducts her investigation into Jun-seo's death and finds Jae-kyung collapsed from drug withdrawal. She helps him home, where they find the drugs. They clash as Jae-kyung tries to retrieve them.

Later that night, Jae-kyung confides in Yun-jin about his addiction. Yun-jin then shares what she knows about Lee Myung-guk, and they head to his house together. There, they find Lee Myung-guk's body, sealed to prevent the smell from escaping. The body, which has been dead for seven months, leaks a lot of fluid, indicating it had been frozen and only recently moved to the house. Suddenly, the house catches fire, destroying the evidence.

As the episode ends, Jae-kyung's withdrawal symptoms return, and he tries to get his hands on the drugs seized by the police. This cliffhanger wraps up episode 3 of Connection.

Jae-kyung removes a vial of his blood that could detect drugs from the hospital and hastily escapes. However, a skilled doctor at the hospital realizes in that short time that Jae-kyung displayed symptoms of drug addiction. The doctor reports this, but Jae-kyung returns to the hospital and intimidates the doctor with his authority, forcing the doctor to cover up the incident in the emergency room.

Jae-kyung then tracks down Jang Cheol-gu, who has a motive for revenge against him and threatens him. Cheol-gu claims to know nothing about the dead Park Jun-seo or the drug that got Jae-kyung addicted, except for some vague information he heard. Jae-kyung realizes he needs to find someone named Ms. Yoon, who Cheol-gu mentioned.

Ms. Yoon is a female gang leader in Anhyeon City, notorious for making money through all sorts of criminal activities. She was the one who kidnapped and drugged Jae-kyung in exchange for directly dealing drugs from the Doctor. Up until now, she had been supplying drugs through Gong Jin-wook and sharing the profits.

Through the fact that he was left drugged at subway station 3-4, Jae-kyung deduces that Ms. Yoon wants him to catch a man in a baseball cap, Gong Jin-wook. This raises suspicions that he was being used to take down a rival organization.

Jae-kyung visits Jun-seo's funeral and persuades the bereaved family that an autopsy is necessary. There, he meets Won Jong-soo, Oh Chi-hyun, and Park Tae-jin, who are also paying their respects. Jong-soo is the vice president of Geumhyeong Group, Chi-hyun is the chief secretary, and Tae-jin is a prosecutor. They were all high school classmates of Jae-kyung, and this is their first reunion in 20 years. Through Joon-seo's phone, Jae-kyung discovers that Joon-seo had called the three of them right before he died and confronts them. They claim it was just a courtesy call.

Later, another high school friend, Heo Joo-song, also arrives. He is the CEO of Two Star Holdings, the insurance company where Joon-seo had a policy. Joo-song is a non-violent, talkative, and warm-hearted character. Through Joo-song, Jae-kyung learns why Yun-jin became a corrupt reporter and that Joon-seo had a life insurance policy.

At that moment, Joon-seo's will is revealed. It states that he took out a 5 billion won life insurance policy through Two Star Holdings a week before his death and bequeathed all his assets to Jae-kyung and Yun-jin.

The insurance payout wouldn't be made in case of suicide, suggesting Joon-seo knew he was going to be murdered and wanted Jae-kyung and Yun-jin to prove he didn't take his own life.

The episode ends with Jae-kyung and Yun-jin in shock at the contents of the will, setting the stage for the next episode.

The drama Connection starts in the fictional city of Anhyeon. Jang Jae-kyung, a skilled and well-respected officer in the Narcotics Team at Anhyeon Police Station, is introduced.

Oh Yun-jin, a social affairs reporter for the Anhyeon Economic Daily, makes her debut in the story. Her introduction is rather unsavory, as she's depicted extorting money from a company by threatening to publish an unfavorable article. This unsavory act takes place in the very same restaurant where Jae-kyung is attempting to apprehend the notorious criminal Jang Cheol-gu.

Jae-kyung's pursuit of justice takes a ruthless turn when he confronts Jang Cheol-gu, the criminal responsible for severing his subordinate's Achilles tendon a month prior. Driven by a desire for retribution and a determination to protect his team, Jae-kyung shoots Cheol-gu in the Achilles tendon. This act of payback, while controversial, earns him recognition and leads to his promotion to inspector.

Later that night, Jae-kyung’s childhood friend, Park Jun-seo, visits him. Jun-seo tells Jae-kyung that he wants to make amends for past mistakes and leaves.

Back in high school, Jae-kyung had reported an incident and named Jun-seo as a witness. However, Jun-seo betrayed Jae-kyung by claiming he had not seen anything.

On the day Jae-kyung treats his team to a celebration dinner for his promotion, he is kidnapped from a restaurant bathroom after the gathering and found three days later on a subway station bench.

After regaining consciousness, Jae-kyung tries to catch Gong Jin-wook, a gang member, in the act of drug trafficking but is overpowered and loses his gun. He receives a message from a mysterious figure known as "The Doctor," which includes a video of Jae-kyung in a drug-induced stupor over the past three days. The Doctor is revealed to be the supplier of drugs to Gong Jin-wook.

Jae-kyung then learns that Jun-seo has died. What on earth is happening?
