Gae Shi tells the lady dying how she had a special bond with Gwanghae (Cha Seung Won). She was sent to the palace as a court maid when she was young due to her father's gambling debt. Nobody was interested in her but prince Gwanghae (Lee Tae Hwan) only looked into her ability and called her name.
Gwanghae explains "My Joseon will be different, prime minister. Do you think that I just wanted to transfer the capital to prepare for the invasion of Jurchen? I want to build up the nation's strength against not only Ming but also Jurchen. I had to conceal this because of westerners against me. So...Please answer me! Whose side will you be, if I face westerners someday? Whose side will you be when I have to cut out the affected area for good politics?"
"What do you mean, Your Highness!" Deok Hyung stares at the king.
In a council in the Royal presence, the prime minister urges, "Your Highness, You are wrong. The choice will lead you to tyrannize over the country. Please don't listen to the villainous retainer." recalling the king's words the night before.
Gwanghae approaches him, "I really wanted to go with you but you don't believe me. I will examine the prisoner myself to show that the evidence is right." Disappointment is writ large on his face.
Hong Joo Won (Yoon Chan Young) and Kang In Woo (Ahn Do Gyu) came to the palace for the selection of the king's son-in-law finds the princess who is in deep sorrow. She implores Joo Won with tears in her eyes, "Please marry me. I heard that I can save my brother's life if I get married to you. Please... Please..."
The two boys feel sorry for her to see her in such a situation.
King finally sends Yeongchang into exile.
"I heard that I will be killed when I go outside the palace. I'm scared. I don't wanna go alone. I'd like to go with my sister." the little prince shouts.
The siblings who believed to be granted permission to leave together are separated by the lady attendants as they are outside the palace and the two wails loudly.
