Kang In Woo (Han Joo Wan), who decides to harness Kang Joo Sun (Jo Sung Ha)'s powers to get Princess Jeongmyeong (Lee Yeon Hee) according to Kim Gae Shi (Kim Yeo Jin)'s advice, volunteers for the troops as a member of Hawgidogam.
"Our fight is breaking out. I will knock down your King and get your person although I will lose my best friend." In Woo warns Hong Joo Won (Seo Kang Joon).
Meanwhile, Gwanghae entreats Joo Won to protect his step-sister as a man who loves her in all sincerity.
Gwanghae appoints Gang Hong Lip, who isn't associated with one particular political party, as general and secretly gives him an autograph letter which may be a fatal blow to himself when it is revealed to the public.
Gwanghae sends soldiers earnestly asking them to come back alive without shedding blood. Kang Joo Sun and Yi Icheom (Jung Woong In) brood over what he said.
Kang Joo Sun, who gave In Woo a firm promise to let his son get the Princess when he accomplishes his task, waits for his contact plotting against the King.
Gae Shi looks for a smart woman who will be sent to the palace as a court lady and is first introduced to Jo Yeo Jung (Kim Min Seo). Gae Shi feels uneasy about her eyes but she doesn't reverse the decision because of insufficient time to choose another.
Yeo Jung pets a cat on its back, however, the cat scratches her on the hand. The heartless young woman kills the cat and looks down the dead body coldly.
The soldiers arrived at Ming's stronghold are horrified at the news that they have to be in action from tomorrow and Jeongmyeong is also anxious about the combat due to sulfur and niter is of bad quality.
Kang In Woo persuades the Princess to get out of the dangerous area as soon as possible as he knows that Joseon solders will be deployed front lines but she refuses stubbornly.
The general orders the soldiers to retreat in confidence to follow the royal command and Joo Won worries about Gwanghae who will face another political crisis because of his drastic option for his people.
